Our mission is simple:

To create grieving spaces for bereaved young adults.

Did you know that aged 20 is when the average person in the UK first suffers a bereavement of a close family member or friend?*

Yet, young adults are the age group least able to express their feelings and most likely to suppress their grief*, with potentially detrimental consequences for their mental health and personal development.

YNN supports bereaved young adults in a number of ways:

  • Creating Relatable Content. We use our social media presence proactively and effectively to create raw and honest content that bereaved young adults can relate to, including posts, poems and videos. The purpose of our channel is to raise awareness about the realities of living with grief as a young adult and encourage bereaved young adults to talk through the taboo.

  • Grief Workshops. Due to financial pressures, the wellbeing and pastoral care available to bereaved young adults at university and in the work place is limited. We are seeking to change this by offering volunteer-led workshops for bereaved young adults with the primary purpose of encouraging them to share their personal experiences and inspiring them to embrace life after loss.

  • One Day Retreats. Counselling can be an invaluable outlet for grief but it can sometimes fall short of what is needed. Our retreats provide bereaved young adults with alternative ways of expressing their pain through yoga, mindfulness, dance and the creative arts. Our retreat dates for 2020 will be announced shortly.
